Every year, in the month of January, kites in many colors fill the skies, mainly skies of Gujarat and Rajasthan. Where everyone celebrates the festival of Makar Sankranti with kites, delicious dishes, thousands of birds that can’t avoid the threads (manjha), die or lose a body part while struggling to escape the tangles.
A lot of cases are registered where birds get injured or dies. Instead of using the glass-coated manjha or Chinese Thread, the Indian cotton thread can be used. Spreading awareness about the same and making the festival safe for animals is the first step that every individual should do.
Poddar International College celebrated the on ‘MAKAR SANKRANTI’ on 14 January 2019, within the campus with the slogan ‘Save Birds’. The volunteers of the NSS Unit at Poddar International College Jaipur gave this message and celebrated the event with fun and love.
