BIOCOLORANT from Floral Waste

Innovative Bioprocess Technology Development for production of BIOCOLORANT from floral waste (PI: Dr. Neha Sharma)

Floral waste generation occurs largely during functions, worships, ceremonies, festivals, etc. This creates heaps of waste which finds it way being dumped recklessly. As our utmost concern for the environment, we came up with a Triple R concept for sustainability as one aspect and business model as another attainable objective. the bio-process led to the development of “Ready to be commercialized” products like bio-based colorant, when imparted to fabric generates different hues of green, yellow, and pink. The impact analysis of the colorant, cost-effectiveness, and viability makes it a promising candidate for textile industrial set-up.
