On 22nd September 2023, the Poddar International College organised a seminar for design department students on the topic "Protection of Creativity (Design patent a protective tool)" by Adv (Dr.) Rohit Jain has an LLM (Intellectual Property Rights) and a PhD in the same. He has been a keynote speaker at various other institutions.
His area of specialization is Registration & Enforcement in Patents, Trademarks, Copyright, Industrial Design, GI, etc.
The students of the design department learned the various aspects related to the legal part.
The students learned the basic difference between copyright, trademark and patent. The need for these was explained with several examples.
Numerous types of patents were explained and a design patent was elaborated. The speaker discussed the importance of aesthetics in design patents. The students were made aware of the process to be followed in designing patents and the expenditure. The whole session was organized by Dr. Utkarsh Kaushik, Ar. Neha Khunteta, & IQAC cell.
