The NSS Unit of Poddar International College, in collaboration with GIEO Geeta Parivar, organized an awareness activity focused on promoting moral and ethical values through the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita. The programme aimed to address the growing moral degradation in society and to highlight the relevance of the Gita as a guiding text for righteous living in modern times.
During the activity, NSS volunteers distributed Bhagavad Gita pamphlets containing three important shlokas—from the beginning, middle, and concluding sections of the Gita—among the general public. The pamphlets were distributed at the Bhagwat Pandal at VT Road, Mansarovar, Rose Garden Mansarovar, and the Tibetan Market.
NSS Programme officer Dr. Shilpika tewari and Dr. Vinod Jain, motivated the NSS volunteers for this awareness program.The NSS Co-convener, Mr. Naman Gautam, accompanied the volunteers and explained the significance of the Bhagavad Gita to the people. He emphasized that in today’s fast-paced and stressful life , the Gita provides practical guidance for duty, self-discipline, ethical conduct, and mental balance, making it one of the most effective tools to counter moral decline in society. He also motivated people to read, understand, and spread the teachings of the Gita in their daily lives.
The public response was very positive. People showed great interest in the pamphlets, tried to understand the shlokas, and expressed willingness to further promote the message of the Bhagavad Gita.
The activity successfully fulfilled the objectives of the NSS by fostering social awareness, moral responsibility, and value-based education among both volunteers and the community.
