BUTTON MASALA WORKSHOP

It is a simple joinery system, which replaces sewing from clothing or home furnishing. The technique involves only buttons and rubber bands. It is pretty much like the tie and dye technique but done with rubber bands. Button masala is a very quick construction method, possibly the cheapest in the world and the greenest for the environment. The technique is also used to make carpets, bags, jewelry, shoes, and many other useful products. It’s already been taught to almost 40000 people across the globe including Holland, Sweden, Spain, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Sri Lanka, South Africa, Uganda, Denmark, Bangladesh, France, and India.

Globally acclaimed Fashion designer Anuj Sharma works mainly in the areas of craft development and sustainability. Mr. Sharma’s other areas include teaching fashion and understanding human behavior with the help of fashion. He has previously shown collections in Japan, the UK, Sweden, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh. He was also a regular at Lakme Fashion Week in Mumbai. Mr. Anuj Sharma has come up with a unique method to construct clothes without any machine, tools, or stitches technique. It is titled Button Masala.

The Poddar Group of Institutions organized a 2-day workshop for the students of the Design Department where they learned the technique and made some beautiful garments in the end. Mr. Anuj Sharma taught some innovative methods to students in a brief and simple way, so students could easily grasp the technique. Students were felicitated with the participation certificate by the Chairman of the Poddar Group of Institutions Dr. Anand Poddar, Vice Chairperson of the Poddar Group of Institutions Mrs. Rupal Poddar, and Fashion Designer Mr. Anuj Sharma. At the end of the workshop, students thanked Mr. Sharma for sparing and giving his valuable time and, Mr. Anuj Sharma was felicitated with a sapling & memento by the Chairman of the Poddar Group of Institutions Dr. Anand Poddar, Vice Chairperson of the Poddar Group of Institutions Mrs. Rupal Poddar.
