‘Am I Alive?’— An Experiential Management Activity

Today’s classroom turned into a mini management lab as students of PGDM participated in an experiential activity titled ‘Am I Alive?’conducted by Dr. Vaishali Gupta.

The class was divided into two groups, and the task was simple yet thought-provoking — each team had to exchange the canopies from one end to another under specific time constraints. What looked like a fun physical challenge soon unfolded powerful management lessons!

The activity focused on responsiveness, coordination, and adaptability — essential qualities of an effective team and organization. It mirrors how in real-world management, success depends on how quickly and strategically individuals respond to changing situations while maintaining teamwork and clarity of purpose.

Key Learnings:

  1. Team synergy matters more than individual effort.
  2. Situational awareness helps teams adapt to dynamic challenges.
  3. Leadership emerges when individuals take initiative with accountability.
  4. Agility and presence of mind determine how ‘alive’ a team really is!

Activities like these remind us that management isn’t just taught — it’s experienced.
